Selecting the right kitchen sink is an ongoing process. While searching for the best sink, you will probably be surprised by a number of brands and options, but we are here to compare two of them that stand out among others: Blanco and Franke. This is the second part of our comparable sink review. Last week we discussed two other brands, Kraus and Ruvati, and their stainless sinks. To read that article, please click here.
Back to Blanco and Franke, these are two brands that deservedly take the top spot among the best sink brands, and today we will try to unveil why.
Blanco is a German brand founded in 1925 in Oberderdingen. They embraced German precision and the spirit of engineering in their products. Their sinks are known for outstanding design, practicality and durability.
One of their signature materials, Silgranite, is a scratch-resistant, ultra-durable and long-lasting material, based on granite and consisting of up to 80% quartz sand. As Blanco states on their website, it can withstand a frozen chicken falling into the sink, or even a heavy pan. "Resistant to any common chores." And experience proves that. Blanco Silgranite is really durable.
Franke is also a European brand. It was founded in 1911 in Switzerland. They position themselves as a luxury kitchen brand. Their products are innovative, functional and beautifully crafted, to elevate the looks of any kitchen.
Just like Blanco, Franke also has a durable scratch-resistant material that they developed and are actively using, called Fragranite. It has similar technology as Silgranite (also up to 80% quartz sand). Franke states that this material is highly resistant to burns, dents, chips and stains.
Both brands offer sink options in various materials (granite, stainless steel), finishes, and types (workstation, laundry), so it's safe to say that both brands are versatile enough to fit into any kitchen style. Blanco usually embraces a more modern and minimalistic style, while Franke leans towards a classic and elegant appearance.
Both brands have models with integrated cutting boards, drying racks, and other utilities, which are crucial in everyday life.
In terms of design flexibility, the point goes to Blanco. They have a wider variety of finishes and colors, all meticulously crafted to complement any kitchen style.
So, what should you choose? Usually we don't like to be "in the middle" but this is such a case. Both brands are equally strong in the market, have a wide variety of options, and customer recognition. Ultimately the choice depends on the style of your kitchen, personal preferences and priorities.
