California Faucets vs Brizo: Luxury faucet comparison

3 min read

Choosing the right faucet brand is difficult given the variety in today’s market. New brands are appearing every day, adding to the already crowded market. That’s why we’re discussing top brands - and today we’ll compare two of them: California Faucets and Brizo. Both brands offer outstanding quality and customer experience. But which one is the better fit for your home? Let's find out.

California Faucets

Founded in 1988 as a response to existing brands known for poor quality and service, California Faucets quickly showed that there was another way. They did well, and by ‘well’ we mean artisanal manufacturing, professional customer service, and a family-based approach. Today they are still one of the best, even in the luxury segment, where big companies push out smaller competitors. On their website, they state:

"As the only independently owned, custom faucet company in the United States, our executive team is California Faucets' leader. We aren't owned by a multi-national or conglomerate."

It could be seen as a difficult task, but the answer to their success lies in their manufacturing philosophy.

"In a mass-produced world, we assemble and finish every single product by hand. We take pride in crafting your fitting one-at-a-time. In fact, when you receive your product, you’ll find the name of the employee who assembled it right on the package."

With 25 artisan finishes to choose from, exceptional product quality, and outstanding customer service (free replacements are standard), they are deservedly one of the best faucet companies in the world.

Brizo

On the other hand, we have a large company owned by Masco Corporation, which also owns other well-known brands like Delta, along with a dozen more. But Brizo is not losing its identity, quality, or style. It’s quite the opposite: their quality and popularity are at an all-time high, they embrace innovations, and develop designs in collaboration with famous designers.

With features like VoiceIQ™ for hands-free, voice-activated control, SmartTouch® Technology for touch-activated water flow, and MagnaDock® or MagnaTite® magnetic docking for spray wands, their products are deservedly competing in the luxury league.

Their other standout features are Diamond Seal® Technology, a special faucet design involving real diamonds to craft a leak-free faucet. As Brizo states, their faucets last twice as long compared to the industry standard, which is 500,000 cycles.

Another notable feature is the MagneDock® magnetic docking spray head. When not in use, the spray head is secured in place, which prevents drooping and keeps the faucet from deforming.

Design

In terms of design, both brands strive to provide custom options and designer collections, but each with its own approach.

Brizo has an extensive range of aesthetic lines, from Scandinavian Minimalism and Wabi-Sabi (Kintsu® Collection) to Contemporary designs inspired by early 1900s style (Rook® Collection). They typically offer 3-10 finishes (depending on the collection).

California Faucets has an even more extensive number of finishes, around 25 in total. On top of that, they allow you to choose a spout and then select a compatible handle and trim, essentially giving you the ability to build your own faucet. They handcraft and hand-assemble their faucets.

Price

Both Brizo and California Faucets are in the premium segment, with prices ranging from around $300 for basic faucets to $1500 for complex designs and premium finishes.

So, what should you choose? Both brands are on the same level of quality, but their strengths lie in different approaches. While Brizo gives you a little bit of everything with their design, quality, and high-tech features, California Faucets offers extensive customization, a larger number of finishes, and compelling price points. The answer lies in your personal preferences, kitchen style, and priorities.
